September 2018 – Hoffmann Architects, an architecture and engineering firm specializing in the rehabilitation of building exteriors, is pleased to announce the promotion of two members of the New York technical team.
Richard W. Off, AIA has earned a promotion to Staff Architect, in recognition of his advanced credentials and increased responsibility. After joining Hoffmann Architects in April 2016 as Project Representative, Off earned a promotion to Senior Project Representative within a year, and then to Project Coordinator this past January. He contributes technical knowledge and a meticulous eye for detail to building envelope projects, including copper roof replacement at the State University of New York at Farmingdale Lupton Hall, exterior rehabilitation at Countee Cullen Library, and historic facade restoration and roof replacement at First Presbyterian Church in New York City. Recently, he published his first article in the Hoffmann Architects JOURNAL, “Roof Drainage Systems,” co-authored with Steffany Malarik, AIA. Off earned a bachelor of architecture degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a master’s degree in architecture and urban design from Columbia University. He lives in Washington Heights in Manhattan.
Steffany Malarik, AIA has been promoted to Staff Architect, in credit to her evolving command of architectural design, as well as her expanded role in building enclosure projects. Previously Project Coordinator, Malarik rose in the ranks from Project Representative to Senior Project Representative in under two years, with her skill and dependability prompting two more promotions less than a year apart. Since joining Hoffmann Architects in July 2015, she has taken initiative in her projects as well as in building connection among her coworkers, captaining intramural office volleyball and dodgeball teams and encouraging team spirit. Her first technical article, “Roof Drainage Systems,” co-authored with Richard Off, AIA, appeared earlier this year in the Hoffmann Architects JOURNAL. A graduate of the architecture program at Pennsylvania State University, Malarik has provided building enclosure design services for roof replacement at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, parking garage roof terrace rehabilitation at Morgan Stanley in Purchase, New York, and facade investigation and repair at Barnard College. She lives in Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
