Larry directs Hoffmann’s Quality Assurance / Quality Control program, reviewing architectural and engineering deliverables across the firm’s three offices to see that work is completed to the highest standards for technical rigor, constructability, code compliance, and performance. Both a licensed structural engineer and a registered architect, he is a recognized industry expert in structural systems for building enclosures and parking structures, with two U.S. patents for his design of innovative seismic connections for precast concrete garages. Larry has been invited to speak on parking structure investigation and remediation at national and regional conferences, and he has published papers and articles on this topic, as well as on structural considerations for building assemblies from facades to sidewalk vaults to plazas.

A Qualified Parking Structures Inspector (QPSI) in the City of New York, Larry oversees compliance inspections and repairs pursuant to the city’s Periodic Inspection of Parking Structures (PIPS) program, and he guides clients in proactive garage maintenance to minimize unforeseen expenses and protect the safety and longevity of their facilities. He is proficient in roof diaphragm analysis, facade failure investigation, and structural evaluation for plazas over occupied space and conversion of roof terrace areas into amenity spaces. As a building enclosure specialist, Larry has also been engaged as an expert witness and has provided litigation and claim support related to exterior envelope distress. His rapport with clients leads to long-term relationships, including with M&T Bank, Phoenix Life Insurance Company, Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation (Foxwoods Resort Casino), and the University of Connecticut.

Larry earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Connecticut, and he has been with Hoffmann since 1997. He became an owner of the firm in 2011. Since 2017, he has managed Hoffmann’s Connecticut office, overseeing the technical team to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to strict quality standards.

Active in the professional community, Larry is a member of the American Concrete Institute (ACI), American Institute of Architects (AIA), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI), and Precast/Pre-stressed Concrete Institute (PCI).

In his free time, Larry enjoys gardening and bicycling. He is also a private pilot.
