Tommy Lee, Assoc. AIA

Project Representative

With training as both an engineer and an architect, Tommy has the analytical and creative abilities to provide integrated project solutions that are as technically adept as they are aesthetic. He began his education at National Taiwan University, where he earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering. After graduation, he worked for a structural engineering firm in Taipei, Taiwan, gaining experience in conducting failure investigations, performing structural calculations, developing detail drawings, and compiling budget estimates. Tommy then came to the United States to attend Yale University School of Architecture, where he earned a Master of Architecture degree.

While completing his education, Tommy built his practical knowledge through a range of internship experiences. Interning for a small design practice and, later, joining the science and technology team of a large architecture firm, he honed his skills in schematic design, project management, and construction administration. He also was selected for an internship at the Yale Office of Facilities, where he built experience in bidding and contract document preparation while managing a project from concept through construction.

As part of Hoffmann’s Connecticut team, Tommy brings experience in computational design, project management, and cross-disciplinary integration to the rehabilitation of building enclosures. He is a life-long learner who enjoys tackling new projects, such as teaching himself several programming languages to design his own responsive website or training an AI model to detect objects in augmented reality.

Tommy is fluent in Mandarin. When he’s not at work, he enjoys skateboarding and playing basketball. He also has been playing the acoustic guitar for more than 10 years.

Tommy is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
