Naomi G. Grigoryan, Assoc. AIA

Senior Project Representative

With educational, research, and employment experience that spans from high-performance facade design and sustainability to historic architecture and preservation, Naomi is committed to an architecture that is as nimble as it is enduring. She comes to Hoffmann from an interdisciplinary research consortium at a building envelope system manufacturer, where she contributed to computational design and research into the carbon footprints of building materials across the supply chain. Naomi focused on the development of an application for mapping disassembly and reuse of building elements, concentrating on circular construction and minimizing environmental impact.

While completing her education, Naomi landed architectural internships with large, multidisciplinary firms, where she gained exposure to a broad spectrum of projects, from socially conscious design for higher education to complex urban development. Her positions afforded her experience in schematic design, design development, document production, and construction administration, as well as the ability to coordinate across large project teams and connect diverse stakeholders.

Naomi attended Savannah College of Art and Design, where she received a BFA in Architecture with a minor in Architectural History. She continued her education at the A. Alfred Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan, where she earned her Master of Architecture degree and was a Graduate Student Instructor for Architectural Theory. In addition to her two degrees, she also earned a certificate in Sustainable Preservation from Cornell University’s eCornell program. Throughout her studies, she garnered numerous awards for academic and design excellence.

At Hoffmann, Naomi brings experience in evidence-based performance metrics to the preservation and rehabilitation of existing buildings. Her approach marries a respect for the ecology and durability of traditional building materials with an empirical mindset and facility with contemporary technologies. She works with project teams to deliver sustainable, technically adept, and historically appropriate solutions for building exteriors in the greater New York region.

Outside of work, Naomi enjoys crafting, experimenting with different mediums including wood, glass, paint, and others. She enjoys listening to and playing jazz and other genres. Naomi is often pickling or fermenting something in her kitchen.

Naomi is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
