“As architects, how can we protect the health, safety and welfare of the public if our country is not properly including Black Americans as full members of our society?”
— National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA)

June 2020 – With the killing of George Floyd and other racially charged incidents over the past weeks, including the murder of Ahmaud Arbery, the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor, and the white woman who called police on a black man bird-watching in Central Park, we feel outrage, fear, anger, despair, and trauma.

Hoffmann Architects joins with communities and organizations fighting for social change in condemning these recent acts of racism and violence, and in expressing solidarity with and compassion for those who have been victims of injustice, discrimination, profiling, and brutality.

As design professionals, it is our responsibility to promote inclusivity, recognize the legacy of communities of color in our built environment, encourage diverse perspectives, and create and preserve spaces where peace and justice thrive.
