Located in the District’s “Golden Triangle” central business district bounded by Washington and Dupont Circles and Farragut Square, 2021 L Street NW is a 10-story, LEED Gold certified office building designed by Hickok Cole Architects. When the building underwent redevelopment, AtSite Real Estate engaged Hoffmann Architects to provide waterproofing consultation services, including review of the prepared construction drawings, inspection of the roof, balconies, facades, and entrance canopy during construction, and recommendation of appropriate modifications.
The street-facing facade of the building is a glass curtain wall system, with a glass entrance canopy. Remaining exposed facades are brick masonry with punch windows. A new fully adhered thermoplastic roof system was installed as part of the refurbishment. Where our architects observed potential defects, we alerted AtSite, such that contractors could correct the problems as an ongoing element of the construction.
With its sleek, aesthetically appealing design, the refurbished 2021 L Street building is positioned to attract big-name tenants. And with Hoffmann Architects’ guidance, the watertight building is designed not only to look good, but to provide tenants with long-term comfort and durability.
