Foundation Waterproofing Consultation

Affiliated with Yale University School of Medicine and part of the Yale-New Haven Health System, Greenwich Hospital has been serving Fairfield and Westchester counties since 1903. With the opening of the Helmsley Medical Building in 1999, Greenwich Hospital established a new main campus with state-of-the-art facilities, which was completed in 2005.

Ten years after its construction, the Helmsley building exhibited water infiltration and deterioration conditions at the foundation, related to failure of the waterproofing membrane system. The hospital retained a contractor and excavated the foundation to reveal existing membrane conditions.

At the suggestion of the construction team, the hospital then retained Hoffmann Architects + Engineers to provide repair recommendations and develop typical design details for the work. Hoffmann visited the site during construction to observe membrane installation and respond to unforeseen conditions, then returned to the site to view the completed work.

A building that houses critical medical facilities can ill afford damage from water infiltration. Hoffmann Architects + Engineers provided Greenwich Hospital with a waterproofing solution that effectively addressed leaks both now and in the long term.
