Finding cures is the essence of activity inside Pfizer Inc.'s world headquarters buildings. And that was Hoffmann Architects' mission on the outside of those buildings. The firm resolved persistent water infiltration problems at 21 roof setbacks, façades and windows of the 33-story glass-and-metal building and the adjacent 10-story brick building. To avoid disruptions to Pfizer Inc.'s daily operations during this major re-roofing and façade rehabilitation project, Hoffmann Architects devised a demolition and construction schedule that slated most work for after hours and weekends, and specified exterior access to the project site for construction workers and materials.
